THE COMPETITION TERMS

1. The Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award is an acquisitive art award and exhibition, open to all ceramic art forms.

2. The competition is open to artists from all countries.

3. Works chosen for the exhibition at Gold Coast City Gallery will be selected by the Judge from photographs or jpegs submitted with the entry. Selected artists will be invited to submit works of art for exhibition and consideration by the Judge for acquisition. The Judge may select more works than can be exhibited in which case all works submitted will be viewed by the Judge and remain eligible for acquisition.

4. The Judge's decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

5. The Judge will nominate a Winner of the Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award. The Winner will receive AUD $10,000 (Australian dollars) and that work will be acquired for the Gold Coast City Gallery collection. The Judge will select further acquisitions up to the value of AUD $5,000 for Gold Coast City Gallery collection.

6. The Judge reserves the right not to select a Winner nor any work for acquisition, or not allocate the full acquisition budget if works are not, in his/her opinion, of sufficient merit.

7. Gold Coast City Gallery has the right to refuse to display any entry.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. Entries must be forwarded to Gold Coast City Art Gallery by 5pm Friday 4th June 2010.

2. All images must be marked with the artists' name and short title of the work, medium and size. All images submitted must be of works that have been executed since August 2008.
NB. Digital images should be less than 2 megabytes, saved as jpegs and able to be opened on PC format. Jpeg files should be saved with the following details as the file name: artist's surname_artist's first name_title.jpeg
Example: smith_john_ blue vase.jpeg   NB CDs WILL NOT BE RETURNED

3. Measurements of three-dimensional pieces should not exceed 2 metres in height or 1 cubic metre in volume. Two-dimensional works should not exceed 2 metres in any given direction.

4. Entry fee is AUD $30.00 (includes GST) per entry. Maximum of 2 entries per artist only. One entry means up to 3 images of one art work from various angles, as set out on the Entry Form. Entry fee is not refundable regardless of whether the work is selected for exhibition or not. Any entry not accompanied by payment of entry fee in AUD$ will not be eligible for consideration for the award.
Payment may be made by cheque / money order to Gold Coast City Gallery or credit card. Receipts will be mailed with letters of acknowledgement.

5. All works selected must be ready for installation with detailed instructions. If hanging, d-rings or screw eyes should be attached and must be marked clearly on the base or back with artist's name and title of work.

6. All works must be for sale. The Gallery will retain 33% commission on any sales from the exhibition. Works acquired for the permanent collection will be purchased at the full catalogue price. To comply with Australian Taxation Law. Australian resident's ABN must be quoted or if hobbyist, an exemption form is required.

7. Artists selected for exhibition will allow their works to be reproduced by print and electronic media in the advertising and promotion for the exhibition and for the exhibition catalogue. Gold Coast City Gallery reserves the right to reproduce the winning entry and other acquisitions in subsequent publications by the Gallery in relation to the Award and permanent collection.

8. Freight and transit insurance of artwork is the responsibility of the artist. Selected works will be required to arrive at the Gallery no later than Friday 13th August 2010. Artworks will not be accepted unless delivered and returned free of all freight and other charges. If an artist shall fail or omit to remove a work from Gold Coast City Gallery as provided in these conditions, Gold Coast City Gallery, after sending a notice by post and or Email to the artist at the last known address of its intention to sell or otherwise dispose of such work, or in the event of no address being known to the Gallery, then one month after advertising such notice of intention in a newspaper, may sell such work and after deducting from the proceeds the cost of the incidental to the sale shall hold any balance for the artist PROVIDED however that in the event of such work being in the opinion of the Gallery unsaleable then the Gallery may in lieu of selling the same, destroy or otherwise dispose of in such a manner as it may deem fit and thereafter the Gallery shall be under no liability whatever to the artist in respect of any work so destroyed or disposed of. All care will be taken, however the Gallery will not be responsible for any loss or damage, howsoever caused. Insurance is the responsibility of the artist.

9. Joint entries must be signed by all parties, and will be catalogued accordingly.
